I struggled to name these vases and eventually settled on naming them after two drawings by Joseph Beuys that have a minimal red illustration on a simple off-white paper. My biggest creative influence once told me that his biggest creative influence is Beuys, and it was interesting to think how influence is translated through an artist as I could not have deciphered that reference in his work. These are designed in collaboration between Blaise and I, the red spots are a motif Blaise had been developing and I thought to place them in a wash of mirrored cream, similar to another series I developed called Solar Discus. These pieces are lovely to behold in person. Both delicate and bold.
