Aether Vases - In classical mythology Aether was the son of Erebus and Nyx and was a word that referred to a clear sky or pure fresh air. In medieval times the word evolved to mean the material that filled the universe beyond the terrestrial sphere. These cosmic looking vases are made of a reactive glass applied on a black base with interference patterns created by applying more clear glass to push the cosmic misting in improvised directions. This style is a throwback to a very early Sirius style that was very short lived and therefore very rare. Made in the late 70s and early 80s by Doris and Peter, the cosmic blue/green/cream on black was ahead of its time, in an era that boasted far fewer cosmically goth minimalists. This has always been my favourite style from the studio and we're excited to bring it back into rotation. The materials they used were slightly different but the effect is similar to this body of new work.
