I recently saw Nick Cave and Bad Seeds in concert and this vase reminded me of their performance of Tupelo, a song loosely about the street that Elvis Presley was born on. A deep green glittery Aventurine glass with a nearly mirrored chestnut cane decoration.
A caned and coiled vase is a long-standing, recurring decorative style over the near 50 years of our studio’s existence. It’s a decorative style that was seen in many colourways as the studio ebbed and flowed to and from this method. Based on a very classically art-nouveau decorative style in glass, Sirius has always aimed to loosen up the gesture and imbue it with a freeform wispiness.
